Alice has always been obsessed with fashion, history and old movies. When younger she remembers spending “hours sketching new fashion ideas from so many of the clothes I saw in old movies.” Eventually her passion for edgy over the top clothes and a need to always be ‘just a little different’ led to a career designing for many of the top manufacturers and retailers in NYC including Macys Corp, Calvin Klein and Banana Republic.
A graduate of the Fashion Institute (FIT) in NYC she majored in apparel design and by 2008 began working independently to pursue other areas of interest in fashion. With a client list as diverse as Brooks Brothers, Club Monaco, and JCrew kids she became involved in everything from product development and fashion forecasting to production and graphic design. She also founded and designed her own line of vintage inspired greeting cards and stationary under the Retro Mood label, which was exhibited and sold at the National Stationary Show in NYC.
Her lifelong fascination with history and fashion also led to the publication of her first book, Monet the Master Jewelers in 2011. This is the first family authorized book that takes an inside look at the origins and history of one of most iconic costume jewelry company’s in the world.
Now she will once again combine her love of history and fashion in a new book that will detail the rising popularity of women’s fashion accessories during the 30s and 40s. A member of the Fashion Group International and the Costume Society of America she continues to work independently in various areas of the fashion industry.
